Back from a short hiatus here I am back to regale you with stories of labels and the products they get wrapped around.

Speaking of products our labels get wrapped around, I just received my tickets to the Vermont Farmstead Cheese’s Vermont Mac and Cheese Challenge and my mouth is already watering. And my wallet is feeling pretty light.

That is the “problem” with working here at CLOV, I see and get to be a part of making great labels for all of these wonderful products and I of course have to sample them. Sometimes I get lucky and our wonderful customers send us samples of their product and other times my curiosity gets the better of me and I just go ahead and order things just so I have the chance to try them.

Last year I was lucky enough to get to go down to Windsor and try the Mac and Cheese Challenge and was so happy that I did, the combination of wonderful Vermont made cheese, Harpoon beer and of course carbs made for an absolutely wonderful day. I encourage anyone who can to go and check it out if not for the great food and atmosphere then for the fact that all the proceeds go to benefit the Vermont Food bank and Sustainable Woodstock, both wonderful charities that do great work for Vermonters.

I love Vermont, I love being a native Vermonter, working for a Vermont company and I love the fact that we make a TON of labels for Vermont products (even the ones that don’t go on food). One of my biggest pleasures during the summer is going to various farmers markets in the area and trying out new veggie stands and the homemade products that are there. And it gives me great pleasure while talking to these vendors to tell them how we are a Vermont company and how if they would like to stick a label on something then they should use one that is made in Vermont. So if you see me around the greater Chittenden/Addison County areas carrying way too much stuff for the bag I might have with me, stop and say hi and I will talk to you about labels, what we here at Creative Labels can do for your label needs and I might let you try some of my “treasure” I just bought. I’m still trying to figure out what I am going to put the raspberry jalapeno jam that I bought on Friday at the Essex Junction Farmers market on. Going to have to find a really good muffin or scone I guess…

Inaugural blog post = exciting! For me because I will be writing about the exciting world of labels and my favorite thing of all time the foods they go on. And exciting for you because you will get to enjoy my musings and get a glimpse into my hilarity. Of course we here at Creative Labels of Vermont produce labels for all sorts of other things beside food but since it’s my first blog post, I am going to write about something I like the best. FOOD.

Butter. Its one of my favorite food groups, aside from cheese and Diet Coke. Yes, you read that correctly; butter, cheese and Diet Coke have their own food groups (at least in my slightly a skewed world). And recently one of our favorite customers Vermont Creamery, (who produce products that fall into two of my food groups) won a prestigious SOFI award at the Specialty Food Association’s Fancy Food Show in NYC this past June for their Cultured Butter basket. Let me just say that their butter is DELICIOUS. When I had their butter for the first time all I could think of was the Mike Myers Coffee Talk skit from SNL where he and Madonna were talking about Barbara Streisand being like “buttah”, wonderfully, deliciously, creamy and what you’d imagine heaven tasting like. I cannot be prouder of their accomplishment, both as someone who gets to brag EVERYTIME I am in the grocery store that we here at CLOV make their labels but as a born and raised Vermonter. I find it absolutely wonderful when a Vermont company is recognized for what they make, and shows the world that Vermont is more than just delicious maple syrup. Congratulations Vermont Creamery, keep up the excellent work!
